Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Wheatley Hills Golf Cub in East Williston
To celebrate its 100th anniversary this year, the Wheatley Hills Golf Club in East Williston has developed a commemorative member book which included its association with the Motor Parkway.
Several of the images and surveys in the brochure were provided from my collection. Several new documents and photos are posted below.

Alfred J. Kienzle- General Manager of the Motor Parkway
Alfred J. Kienzle (left) was the general manager of the Long Island Motor Parkway and a club member.
In 1939, Kienzle had a hole-in-one on the eight hole celebrated by a cup on display at the club.
Kienzle was also associated withe the D.S. Wilson Development Corporation which built cabins , primarily around Lake Ronkonkoma. Sometime in the 1930s, he likely helped build the "Kienzle Cabin" half-way house on the course.

Good morning. The note above says: “The cabin as it appears today.” Is the cabin still standing? Would that picture be from a post card or some kind of advertising piece? The place looks beautiful. Is it really still standing?
Elliot, the cabin is still there and used as the half-way house.
great to see the old articles and pictures. Amazing how many original landmarks of
the old parkway remain and mysteries keep coming up…and answers received.

Alfred J. Kienzle was the brother of my father’s father. I am curious to know whatever I can about my ancestor. I live in northern Vermont - 8 miles from the Canadian border - but if I ever make it back down to NY again, would I be allowed to visit the cabin and see the cup?
