Highlights of Chrysler’s Chrysler at the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival 2023

Chrysler's Chrysler had an excellent showing in Chattanooga Tennessee at the 2023 Chattanooga Motorcar Festival.

The Fourth Annual Chattanooga Motorcar Festival had its 2023 dates on October 13-15, and again hosted family-friendly events held in the heart of the Scenic City to benefit The Neuroscience Center at CHI Memorial and the Neuroscience Innovation Foundation of Chattanooga.

The three-day event hosted a high-speed race-car exhibition, Rally Events, Mecum Auto Auctions, a concert by the B52's, all culminating with the Concours D'Elegance on Sunday in the streets of West Village, Chattanooga, boasting hundreds of significant cars from all generations and from around the world. Thirteen classes, plus six for special awards, were judged by distinguished world-class judges and all winners will receive their awards and accolades on the Concours stage in front of the Westin Chattanooga Hotel in West Village.

Chrysler's Chrysler came away from the event with the prestigious 'People's Choice Award'.

Kudos to Dave Baum for handling Chrysler's Chrysler throughout the Concours.

People's Choice Award goes to...Chrysler's Chrysler!

Some may say that a People's Choice Award is the most prestigious award to receive as show politics and judging technicalities are removed from the award process and displays what the attendees feel in the purest sense.

Best in Show

Best in Show went to this beautiful 1935 SS One Airline Saloon.

Before Jaguar became known as such in 1945, they started in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company, Ltd., a motorcycle sidecar manufacturer. Founder Sir William Lyons in 1927 also made bodies for the Austin Seven while operating as the Swallow Coachbuilding Co. The SS series was introduced in 1931 with a long bonnet and low silhouette which became a company hallmark. This is one of 624 manufactured over a two-year period. It is finished in “all silver” with a “special light blue” interior celebrating, as new, the 25th Silver Jubilee of King George V of England.

1933 Pierce-Arrow

1933 Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow Sedan from The Richard Driehaus Automobile Collection of Chicago, Illinois in attendance.

This particular car's history is long and storied. Once owned by Long Island's own Henry Austin Clark, Jr., this car's past was featured in a recent post here on the site within one of Gram Spina's posts.

Ferraris

Ferrari and Porsche were featured marques at the show with multi-million dollar collectables on one side and current offerings from Ferrari on the other side.

Packard

Many Packards on display with the most notable being this 1957 Packard Predictor Hardtop Coupe Concept from the Studebaker National Museum in South Bend, Indiana.

Designed by Richard Teague, the car was based on a stock Clipper chassis with coachwork by Ghia of Italy. Ghia completed the car in 90 days to debut it at the 1956 Chicago Auto Show. Its features are its electrically operated retractable roof panels, back glass, the headlight doors and side windows. The car also features a push-button Packard Ultramatic automatic transmission.

Automotive celebrities also came out for the Concours. Designer Chip Foose seen here with a fan.

NASCAR legend Kyle Petty and former Jeff Gordon Crew Chief and Americarna host Ray Evernham (and wife) in attendance.

Corvette

Corvettes a plenty everywhere with this nice grouping of some early vintage Vettes.

Vintage Racers

There were no shortages of vintage race cars on hand

Anyone care to guess the marques in these photos?

Miscellaneous

A classic 1938 Lincoln with its greyhound hood mascot.

Ford's son Edsel initially commissioned the design for the Lincoln greyhound hood ornament in 1927 as a way to put his own influence into the cars, wanting to associate the canine's speed with the company's vehicles.

Wow! impressive event! However there’s an error by the organizer refering the Packard Predictor as a 1957 is wrong, it’s a 1956, In 1956 Richard Teague who was credited with the design, was head of Packard Division design of the Studebaker-Packard Corp. He had an associate who had help him with the design. In 1956, the Packard design staff was busy finishing off the all new for 1957 line up, but no funding for production.
