Art Student Jennifer Siplia Awarded the First Peter Helck Scholarship in Realism
Congratulations to Jennifer Siplia as the 2017-2018 recipient of the Peter Helck Scholarship at the Art Students League of New York.
Roz and Howard Kroplick established the scholarship is in honor of artist and historian Peter Helck and his family for their pioneering contributions to automotive art and auto racing history.

The Peter Helck Scholarship in Realism
As described in peterhelck.com, Peter Helck's training in art began in 1910 when at 17 he attended The Art Students League in Manhattan. Accordingly, it is very appropriate that this important art school will be the recipient of the Peter Helck Scholarship in Realism.
The annual $1,000 scholarship will be granted on the basis of merit to a student who is currently enrolled at the League. The Peter Helck Scholarship will be listed in the annual catalogue and on materials pertinent to the League's scholarship competition. It will also be included in the League's website and their bi-annual magazine Lines from the League. The first award was made at a scholarship competition in May 2017. Artwork from the awardee will be featured in the League's Merit Scholarship Winners Exhibition.

Extremely well done. Pencil, I assume, was the medium. Actually, I think it is one of the more difficult mediums to work with but it can be very precise.
Thank you Howard for ensuring that Peter Helck’s contribution to art continues to flourish. Hopefully this scholarship will help to introduce young artists to the timeless beauty of Peter’s work, and genius. Interesting to see the Art Student League mentioned in your journal. I’m a former Mens vice president, former board member and life member of that wonderful old institution that helped mold artists from Jackson Pollock abstract expressionist to realist Norman Rockwell at the opposite end of artistic spectrum.
