Location: Garden City looking easterly and nearby is LIMP Headquarters and the
Garden City toll house.
Williston Park
The photographer is in Williston Park, standing on some of the last remaining drivable parts of the Motor Parkway in Nassau County. The photographer is facing west and is just west of the town pool (not shown). We are about 600 or 700 feet east of where the Willis ave LIMP bridge was. The Motor Parkway straightaway here and some of the marked parking spaces shown on the sides in this picture seem to corroborate my guess. On May 18th, 2003 the town of Williston Park placed a historical marker on the east side of Willis ave and held a dedication ceremony on that day.
Entryway at Great Neck South High School?
Williston Park facing east. Near the former Willis Ave Bridge. Not sure of the ceremonies though.
Looks like the section next to the VFW building in Williston Park, north of Willis Ave on the Albertson border.
This photo is looking west at Lakeville Road in distance. Photographer standing on Great Neck School south service road
The remains of the Motor Parkway looking west towards Willis Avenue along the entrance to the Williston Park Pool Complex.
Parkway bridge over the Oyster Bay branch of the LIRR and Roslyn Road Bridge (and Roslyn Lodge) were just east of the complex. Willis Avenue bridge just west.
On May 18, 2003 Sam Berliner III and Walt Godsen presented a Motor Parkway historical marker at the site.
1926, 1950 and current photos of the area.
I think we’re looking west in Williston Park between Willis Avenue and the Village Pool. The white stripes on both sides of the LIMP appear to be the parking spaces just outside the pool gate. Not sure of the date of the photo so nearby structures could be the bridge over the LIRR slightly east of this location and the Roslyn Lodge a little further east. A ceremony was held nearby on May 18, 2003 for the placement of an historic marker at a spot closer to Willis Avenue.
The locationĀ and the orientation of the photographer. Provide a rationale.
Facing east just a bit off Willis Ave, across the street from Highway Drive
Image below provides the rationale.
Nearly Motor Parkway structures
Willis Ave overpass, facing the LIRR Oyster Bay Branch overpass, and then
onto the Roslyn Lodge.
Also I believe the cement extensions to widen the ROW are visible.
What Motor Parkway ceremony was held at this location
The commemoration by the Village of Williston Park when they placed
the Historic marker.

albertson looking west between willis ave bridge and the oysterbay train tressel.
the roslyn lodge is not far either. the ceremony was a 2003 sign installation on willis ave.
I’m pretty sure this is the section just east of Willis Ave that leads to a town pool and then the train tracks.
A prestine section of Long Island Motor Pkwy in Williston Park looking east, located just east of Willis Av. The descent ramp of the former Willis Av parkway bridge ended where the three-foot extensions begin today. This section terminates at the Roger Fay Williston Park Pool and has existed for 115 years since 1908. It is 820 ft (0.16mi) in length.
On May 18, 2003, the Village of Williston Park honored the Motor Parkway with an historical marker on the east side of Willis Avenue. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Bob Valentine and Sam Berliner III.
I enjoyed seeing Tucker 44 at a car show there a couple of years ago.
Maybe I can put a plaque with my name on it. Was on the road as a 10 year old,(1956). PLus many other times. My godmother lived on Foxcroft Rd near the eastern cul de sac. she was first of my mothers family to move to “the island!”
