Fellow LIMPers,

Some good news. Re-paving of Motor Parkway in Alley Pond/Cunningham Park is now complete and open to the public as of April 24, 2023.

  • Guardrails/signs/markers in Phase 2 have yet to be installed.
  • The original concrete posts were left undisturbed but the three-foot sections have been paved over.
  • The bridges were not paved and are in fair condition.
  • The section under the Clearview Expressway is also unpaved and could've used a coat.
  • The new black surface is roller skate smooth, even at the seams.
  • I'll be there again today biking with a 10-year old neighbor.

Enjoy,

Frank

Nice captures, Frank. Some of the path seems rather narrow. But maybe they haven’t finished paving yet in those areas.

What a great improvement. Thank you, I can’t wait to ride this.

Brian-
The narrow sections you mention are the part of the bikeway that are west of the Clearview in Cunningham Park and do not follow the original ROW in the Park. They will most likely remain as such. It seems that anything that was the original ROW east of the Clearview has been paved to its original width from concrete extension to extension.

Looks great Frank.  Nice job showing us this improvement to the Motor Parkway.  You are an asset to our cause.  For the record I want you to know that i constantly refer to the Motor Parkway interactive map you created.  A constant treasure trove of fascinating information.
