2009 Vanderbilt Centennial Events

Vanderbilt Centennial Celebrations have announced two major events to celebrate the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup Race this summer:

The 2nd Annual Vanderbilt Autocross, Sunday, July 26, 2009

This autocross and concours will once again be held at Roosevelt Field. The planned course is expected to be larger and even more exciting than 2008.

The 6th Annual Vanderbilt Centennial Celebration, Sunday, August 30, 2009

This year's centennial celebration of the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup Race will feature timed demonstration runs of cars with racing heritages and a Concours de Provenance. The restored 1909 Alco-6 Black Beast Racer, winner of the1909 and 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Races, will participate in the demonstration runs. It will mark the first time that this historic race car has competed on Long Island in 99 years.

The location for this celebration, held at the Nassau County Museum of Art in 2006, 2007 and 2008, is currently being finalized.

VanderbiltCupRaces.com will be the exclusive website for news and registration for these two events. Please check back for details in the coming weeks.

Roosevelt Field date is confirmed and the Museum date is only subject to negotiation of the onerous rental fee. We really need sponsors and vendors for both these events.

Hello Howard
I would like to attend/participate in the July 26 event at roosevelt field, and intend to bring newly restored and rare (4 roadworthy samples left in USA) 1956 Jaguar XK 140 MC Coupe with factory installed automatic transmission.
I will however be out of the country for a few weeks from 20 June and may not get a chance to submit my entry application until my return on 15 July. Can this message be acepted as myprovisionary entry?
Thank you for your consideration.
Best regards
