A record number of comments were added for this post of the Black Beast's parade lap at the 2011 Indy 500 Race. Here is a sampling:

Dick Rowley: "Fantastic!! The car sounds like it wanted to get back out there. Like all good things over way too soon. Just wait for 2111. Congratulations and thanks again for your site and the video. Always a pleasant start to Sunday."

Ernie Finamore: "WOW! A lap of Indy in the Black Beast, driven by two time winner Emmo. How COOL was that? Are you still smiling? Thanks for the video, and for all of your efforts. See you at the next event. Congrats!!"

Walt Gosden: "Congratulations Howard, the thrill of a lifetime, and you shared it with us all. Thank you so much. "

Bob Lang: "Congratulations Howard! It was so great that you got a chance to run your car at the 100th Indy 500. Emmo seemed to be running the same groove that he would have with the cars of today. It must have been a big thrill for him too. Thanks for the video and the chance to get a first hand look at the Black Beast on the Speedway."

Andy H:“Fantastic run Howard! What an experience! Ride with Emerson, meet Mario, be at Indy - WOW! Congratulations!!”

John P:“Awesome, simply awesome. I could hear you hollering all around the track. And at times I thought Fittipaldi was gripping the wheel so tight that he was going to tear it off! Congrats on a great experience! Thanks for sharing it!!"

From Robert R: “EXCELLENT! What a great testimonial to you and your team, Howard. The car ran perfectly, and sounded terrific. Interesting to note that Emerson pretty much followed the line one would take in a modern-day Indy car. What an historic moment.”

Walter C: “What a fabulous ride! How proud and gratified you must be. What a thrill to ride along with you.”

Wayne Carroll Petersen: “Howard,What a memorable and historical time for you and your team. Congratulations! I noticed that Bill Evans attended with the Blitzen Benz. Because of people like you American history is being preserved. Wish I could have been there.”

Ron R: “Just a quick note to say Congratulations and Joy to you for a most joyous blog and history making event never seen before !!!! What beautiful days of joy must have come to you and a great life changing experience !!!! Emerson did a nice job and the meeting with Mario Andretti was beautiful also !!!!!! "

Jan H: “You are a lucky guy. And you made it happen. Lead the parade lap. 68 mph! Emmo, Mario, family, it doesn’t get any better than this.”

Ken Wiebke: "Thanks for sharing this fabulous experience. What a thrill to ride along by watching the video. My impression was had you wanted to, The Beast had plenty more to give. "

Seth G: “That was a great video of the lap you took at the Indy 500! That was a proud moment for you & the team.”

Sam B: “Short, perhaps, of your first drive as owner of Bête Noir, that ride around the Brickyard has got to be the zenith of your automotive adventures to date, and with the Fit as your chauffeur and then having Andretti there to boot is icing on a very rich cake indeed!”

Al Velocci: "Thoroughly enjoyed watching your trip around the Indy race track. Thanks for letting us ride along and share the expierence. It had to be the thrill of a lifetime for you. Al. "

Art Lloyd III: “Seeing the Beast coming down that main straight away at Indy this year was wonderful…”

Bob Klement: "I’d be really surprised if the smile ever leaves your face after this, Howard. Watching it was thrilling - experiencing it must be beyond description. And revenge over the Wasp - sweet!

Noel Gish-Trustee Vanderbilt Museum: "Howard—I imagine that you are still grinning from ear to ear even after a week or more. The Vanderbilt Museum congratulates you on the achievement. If I could get the Vanderbilt Cup away from the Smithsonian I would let you hold it just to complete the experience.Great video——the sights and sounds-the engine-the wind—just terrific."

Jean-Yves Lassaux "Howard it was your glory day ! And with the great “Emmo” you reach the consecration ! "

Rosemary Lucas: "How exciting!!! Congratulations and thanks for sharing the thrill with us. This was definitely a dream come true and a real honor for this wonderful Beast whom we have all grown to admire. Your smiles said it all !! Happy Anniversary to you and your wife—I don’t think you can top this one !"

A Family Remembers a Vanderbilt Cup Race Driver- William Luttgen

Eunice Schweiter Nixon "While surfing on this hot Saturday I found the story of Uncle William. Some of the stories I knew. I have never touched base again with Bob Bratzler when he was gathering the family history. The last few years I have been settling my husband's estate and didn't find time to do family history. I moved to independent living apt and am still going through many papers. Your dear mother Helen and I both had August birthday the same year year 1914.I am quite well. I remember you and your family and dad when I visited your home."
