Vintage Car Rally on the Old Bethpage Motor Parkway Bridge on June 30, 2012

In celebration of the continuing efforts to preserve the Long Island Motor Parkway, members of the Long Island Motor Parkway Preservation Society and all owners of pre-1939 automobiles (the Parkway closed in 1938) are invited to rally at Old Bethpage Village Restoration on Saturday, June 30, 2012 and drive over the Old Bethpage Motor Parkway Bridge.

Everyone will meet at 8:00 AM at the Coliseum Kitchen, 1660 Old Country Road, Plainview, just west of Round Swamp Road for breakfast. Cars will leave the Coliseum around 9:00 am and head to the Old Bethpage Village Restoration parking lot. At 9:30 a.m., cars will depart through the entrance gate in the parking lot and line up opposite the ball field for staging. Look forward to seeing everyone there!

In June 2012  members of the Model A Ford Club of Long Island were able to drive over the Old Bethpage Motor Parkway bridge built in 1910. This is a 3-minute video of the event recorded by Marc Hillman.

Enjoy,

Beautiful examples of so many Model A’s, I wish there was a better photo angle.
Nevertheless, they are still living legends.

Thanks for the show.

This is awesome! Wonderful that the engineering of this bridge held up over all the years of neglect. I recall when it was not even walkable up there and the underside was filled with junk appliances and debris. Great job and what an awesome collection of historic vehicles crossing the old bridge!
