Treasures from the Vanderbilt Museum Archives: William K. Vanderbilt Jr.‘s historic photos are being posted online
LIU's Palmer School of Library & Information Science received a five-year $1.5 million grant in 2016 to digitize materials in 80 local historical societies and museums. Several of William K. Vanderbilt, Jr.'s personal photo albums have now been posted online by LIU.
With the permission of the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum, VanderbiltCupRaces.com will be posting many of the significant images in this amazing collection, placing them in context with the correct captions.
Kudos to the Gardiner Foundation, LIU and the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum for this wonderful project.
To start, below is a finding guide to several of the albums currently posted.

These are fantastic pictures, especially the ones at the west end of the Parkway.
Because the writing seems personal
Very nice Howard.
Thank you Howard!!!!!!!!!!
Fabulous find, Howard. Thanks for sharing.
The entire project is well deserved as many of these photos need to be reviewed. Having so many historical societies working together is great. The technology is here. Just like the early automobiles.
Anticipating great photos from this exciting project. WARNING: More mystery photos up ahead! Kudos indeed to all involved. Looking forward to view the collection here. Much thanks Howard!
